Articles and Publications

Writing for publications allows Black Watch Griffons to contribute to a wider sporting dog community as we strive to produce a high quality hunting dog, and it also allows us to share our training and accomplishments along the way. By publicizing our practice, we are revalidating our mission to test against higher standards of the breed.

AKC Field Trials

Black Watch Griffons- The Viking Litter designed by CKC GCH Narvik De La Plume D'Argent CGN WDJ FD and Black Watch Queen of the Hebrides SH MH. Black Watch Go Ahead Make My Day "Wesson" has placed 6 times in an AKC All-Breed Walking Derby stakes this Spring and is being awarded by the Field Trial Clubs of Illinois - FTCI for his amazing accomplishments! This litter produced some beautiful field dogs.

Black Watch Griffons- The Royal Litter designed by CKC CH Prince Des Roches De Vouise FDJ WDJ and Grungydog's Princess of Winterfell SH MH. Black Watch Finnegan has proven to follow in his mom's footsteps.

Black Watch Griffons will continue to hold the working standard to a higher level. The goal in our breeding program is to preserve their hunting desire. AKC Field Trials are a century old way of testing a dog's hunting desire.

Griffonier Summer 2023

Black Watch Griffons does it once again, Making History One Stake at a Time. Thomas and Arya were qualified to compete in the AKC's 2023 National Walking Gun Dog Field Trial Championship at Branched Oak in Nebraska. Arya is the second only Wirehaired Pointing Griffon to finish with a best of breed award!

Griffonier Summer 2022

Thomas and Russell were qualified to compete in AKC's 2022 National Walking Gun Dog Field Trial Championship at Mingo Sportsman's Club, OH, making Russell the first wirehaired pointing griffon to participate and finish with a best of breed award!
