Puppy Program

Our breeding program is structured around the AKC's Breeders' Best Practices. In doing so we have earned our AKC Breeder of Merit Certificate. Breeding is not meant for everyone and especially if you do it the most ethical way. We put a lot of effort into producing the perfect dog. Here is a little bit of what goes into our process. 

• Both Sire and Dam have tested against proven standards in hunting and conformation, and in both competitive and noncompetitive events.

• We will not breed dogs who have lack of proven hunting instincts, and both Sire and Dam have aquired the recommended health clearances for the breed. 

• The Dam will not be bred before two years of age. 

• We will not breed to dogs that have failed to meet breed standards or who have disqualifying conformation flaws. 

• We agree to re-home your dog or take it back if you can no longer care for it. 

• All puppies are microchipped (AKC Runite), tails docked, de-wormed, and have received the first round of vaccinations before they go home. 

• All puppies will go through a thorough health check by our vet. Puppies will be fully-registered with AKC and NAVHDA. 

• Puppies will have AKC and NAVHDA limited registration. If you desire full registration, specific commitments are required in addition to these listed here and in our contract. Guardianship and Co-Ownership homes available to appropriate applicants. 

• Hunting and testing homes are preferred, but we will consider homes with active lifestyles if we feel it is a perfect fit. 

• Phone interviews are a prerequisite before consideration on an upcoming waitlist. 

• Black Watch Griffons Puppy Deposit Form for our upcoming litter. Not a guarantee. Refundable deposit Black Watch LLC's discretion.

• We provide the training tools and resources you need for your new puppy (everything from grooming to health of your pup to gun dog training). Black Watch creates a private Facebook litter page where we provide videos and checklists and safe space to interact with other littermates as they grow over the years. 

• Puppies are socialized throughout their 8 weeks with the breeder. Potty training and kenneling overnight begin at 4-5 weeks of age. 

• Black Watch Griffons LLC is an approved Garmin Dealer. We recommend using Garmin Tracking and Training Collars once they reach the appropiate age. We apply a discount on ALL Garmin products for our puppy people. 

The Tartan Litter

Born October 26th, 2025. Islay had 3 boys and 2 girls. 

The Tartan Litter has arrived! Five puppies were born on October 26th. The goal of this litter is to build on the Black Watch breeding foundation and produce exceptional hunting companions for upland and waterfowl. Both sides of this pedigree have several generations of proven hunting and trainability. Hunting homes are preferred. All puppies are spoken for at this time.

If interested in one of our puppies, please email or call and we will get back to you shortly. We will schedule a phone call to get to know you and your family a little more . This is to ensure that you are getting the perfect fit for your home. At the end of 8 weeks when it is time to pick up your puppy, Black Watch Griffons chooses the puppy that fits your home best. There is no first, second, third, etc... pick puppies. We generally have a waitlist established several months in advance prior to the specific breeding and hold preference to hunting homes and testing homes.
