The training and obedience we provide will make for a well-rounded hunting dog and companion. There are a few options we offer:

1. One-on-one scheduled sessions on our property in Illinois, we can also try to set up video chat if traveling is an issue. This is a train the trainer type session. Pay for the cost of resources used in training plus a $25 training fee each session. 

2. Group sessions with similar levels of training (on private or local Illinois public all-year training grounds). This is also a train the trainer type session. Pay for the cost of resources used in training plus a $25 training fee each session. 

3. Boarding and Training: Click Here for our Boarding and Training Services Contract. Our contract explains the details on the boarding and training services we offer and also lists the deposit to hold your spot as well as any other advanced payments beforehand depending on the level of training for your dog. Availability is limited. We may schedule out six months to a year in advance for boarding and training services, so it is best to plan ahead. 

4. Hunt Test Handling Service: We also, offer AKC Hunt Test handling service if we feel the dog is ready for AKC Senior Hunter, Master Hunter, and/or NAVDHA Natural Ability. Pay for test entry fees, travel expenses divided equally among all test handling dogs, and a $25 handling service fee for each test.

Obedience starts young and we know it can be a lot to handle at times. For our litters bred by Black Watch Griffons we send and post short videos and tutorials on our private social media groups on how to get through the various puppy stages and your preparation for field work for the first year of their life. Critical development stage is within the first six months of a puppy's life, creating healthy habits inside and outside the home. If you are wanting to prepare your puppy for the next hunt season, there are many things you can be doing just after eight weeks old when you take them home to ensure they are ready for field work and much more. 

Our Motto is to train the trainers, especially our new puppy families. We recommend our puppy owners spend around 10-15 minutes a day in training and we give you a GUIDLINE TO TRAINING ROAD MAP that takes a look on what to work on at what age. We have spent a lot of time in researching and putting together a training plan for your new hunting partner. Although we know every dog is different and every family situation may be different, we still encourage you to keep following the guideline for as long as it takes for you both to learn together. 

We want our families to continue to be in contact with us through our private social media litter pages, phone calls, and messaging. We want to be there for any questions or concerns along the way. We have high standards when it comes to planning a litter and because of that we only plan on one litter a year, and sell puppies to the perfect fit homes. Separate from our Group Training Sessions we also provide a once a year Training Day. It is designed like a seminar except that it is very hands on and we encourage you to bring your dog. Be prepared to learn a lot and take notes! 

The Foundation

The beginning fundamentals learning how to handle your own dog. We also introduce the world of AKC testing and obedience.

Your dog must be up-to-date on vaccinations and free of any contractable illnesses. 

In just two years time Russell and Arya had guided over 70 planted bird hunts for clients who have travelled as far as California. Newly added to the guide dog pack is our Black Watch Dram Fit For a Queen SH MH, Whisky. 

We have returning clients that specifically ask for our dogs each time. In the past our guides have been held at Oak Ridge Sportsman's Club, located west of Bloomington, Illinois, but we service to other preserves around Central Illinois. We are always looking for new land to work our dogs and open to traveling. 

We offer stud services to interested and approved breeders. Both breeding dogs must follow the AKC's Breeders' Best Practices. Please take a look at our Binding Stud Contract for all requirements. 

Currently, GCH Top Hat Royal Troon Russell MHA MH12 CGC is our male for stud. We currently are only offering fresh chilled and frozen semen shipped, or a side by side done at our reproductive vet. All reproductive costs are paid by the dam owner.
